SVRC vs Buying Direct from Unitree

Unitree makes some of the most capable and affordable robots in the world. You can buy them direct from China or through an authorized channel partner like SVRC. Here is what actually changes depending on which path you take.

Quick take. The robot hardware is identical either way — same factory, same firmware, same SDK. The difference is in logistics, support, and what happens after the box arrives. SVRC adds landed-cost transparency, local support, leasing options, and integration with our data platform. Buying direct from Unitree saves the channel margin but requires you to handle international shipping, customs, tariffs, and support in a different time zone.

When buying direct makes sense

  • You are in mainland China or have an existing Chinese import pipeline
  • Your procurement office already handles customs and tariffs routinely
  • You need a configuration not yet listed on the SVRC Store
  • Price is the only variable and you are comfortable with self-service support
  • You have a direct relationship with Unitree's sales team

When buying through SVRC makes sense

  • You want a single USD invoice with tariff and shipping included (no customs surprises)
  • Your university or company requires a US-based vendor for procurement
  • You want to lease before committing — evaluate the hardware on a 3-month term
  • You need setup support, ROS2 integration, or teleoperation onboarding
  • You plan to use SVRC's data platform for manipulation data collection
  • You want US-timezone support and faster spare-parts turnaround
  • You are buying multiple brands (Unitree + Galaxea + BrainCo) and want one vendor

Pricing transparency

SVRC prices are listed on the store page for every SKU. The price includes our channel margin and reflects the current landed cost to the US. We do not hide fees or add surprise charges at checkout. Tariff rates change — when they do, we update our listed prices within a week.

Unitree's direct prices are published in RMB on their Chinese site and in USD on their global site. The gap between Unitree's published USD price and SVRC's price reflects shipping, import duties, and SVRC's margin. For most buyers the total cost is comparable or lower through SVRC once you factor in customs brokerage fees, international freight, and the risk of a shipment held at the border.

All SVRC hardware prices carry a note: "Before tariff & shipping" when shown as base price, or "Landed cost" when the quote includes everything. Ask your sales contact which you are looking at.

The data platform advantage

If you are buying a Unitree robot for AI research — imitation learning, VLA fine-tuning, manipulation data collection — the robot is only the first step. You also need a teleoperation rig, recording pipeline, data management, and training infrastructure. SVRC's data platform handles all of that.

When you buy through SVRC, your robot is pre-registered in the platform. Teleoperation sessions stream directly into your dataset library. Trained policies deploy back to the robot through the same interface. Buying direct from Unitree gives you the hardware but none of this pipeline — you build it yourself or stitch together open-source tools.

Frequently asked questions

Is it cheaper to buy Unitree robots directly from the manufacturer?

Unitree's list prices are the same whether you buy direct or through an authorized channel partner like SVRC. However, direct purchases from China require you to handle international shipping, customs clearance, and US tariffs yourself. SVRC bundles these into a transparent landed-cost quote so there are no surprises at the border.

Does SVRC provide warranty and repair for Unitree robots?

Yes. SVRC provides first-line support including setup assistance, troubleshooting, and spare parts logistics for all Unitree units purchased through SVRC Store. For warranty claims, SVRC coordinates directly with Unitree on your behalf, avoiding the back-and-forth of working with overseas support in a different time zone.

Can I lease a Unitree robot instead of buying one?

Yes. SVRC offers 3-, 6-, and 12-month leases on popular Unitree models including the G1, Go2, and B2. Leasing lets you evaluate the hardware before committing to a purchase and avoids tying up grant money or capex budget. Unitree does not offer leasing directly.

Does SVRC sell all Unitree models?

SVRC carries the full Unitree lineup that is available for international sale, including Go2, B2, G1, and H1. Configurations, trims, and optional accessories (dexterous hands, LiDAR upgrades) are available to order. Contact us for exact lead times on specific configurations.
