RC UMI is a hand-held data-collection gripper built to the open-source Universal Manipulation Interface (UMI) reference design. Each unit includes a GoPro Hero 9 wrist camera with Max Lens Mod 1.0, the camera the UMI design specifies; other GoPro models are not supported, and a microSD card is not included. 6-DOF pose comes from the camera's visual-inertial SLAM, and ArUco tags on the fingers measure gripper width. Collected data deploys to robot arms with a parallel-jaw gripper of more than 85 mm stroke, such as UR5e and Franka.
